How it tested

We ran the same battery of tests we use on every air fryer, from frozen chips to fresh wings and roast veg. Here is how it scored on each.

Crispiness — 8.2

Chips and frozen snacks crisped up well for a compact unit. It will not match the bigger, hotter models but it holds its own.

Crispy food fresh from the air fryer

Evenness — 7.9

Fine for small loads, with a shake needed once the basket fills up.

Ease of use & cleanup — 9.0

The standout here. It is light, simple and the ceramic basket wipes clean in moments.

Noise — 8.2

Quiet and unobtrusive, easy to run in a small flat.

Design & build

A small grey unit that tucks into any kitchen. The basket pulls out easily and stores away without hassle.

Our verdict

As a first air fryer or a small-kitchen pick, the AF101 is very hard to beat on price and ease. It does the core job cleanly and cheaply.

You feel the limits once you cook for more than two, and it lacks the top-end crisp of the pricier Ninjas. Within its size it is excellent value.

How it compares

It is smaller and cheaper than the AF150 and AF181. Step up to those for more room, more heat and more functions.

Frequently asked

Is four quarts enough?

Enough for one or two people. Families will want a bigger basket.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. It is one of the simplest air fryers to learn.

AirFryer Ovens test kitchen · Bought at retail, never supplied by the brand

Every oven runs the same five stages: preheat timing, a frozen chip crispiness run, a full tray evenness test, a full load cook, then noise, energy and cleanup. Scores carry the same weighting on every model, so commission never moves a ranking.
