A twin-basket air fryer that cooks two foods at once and finishes them together, with a probe thermometer that takes the guesswork out of chicken and steak.

✓ What we liked
  • Two 5-quart zones cook a full family meal in one go
  • Smart Cook probe hits your target temperature without slicing anything open
  • Even browning across both baskets
✗ Worth noting
  • Wide footprint needs real counter space
  • Runs a touch loud on Max Crisp

How it tested

We ran the same battery of tests we use on every air fryer, from frozen chips to fresh wings and roast veg. Here is how it scored on each.

Crispiness — 9.0

Chips and wings came out deeply golden with a proper crackle. Max Crisp pushed the outside hard while the inside stayed fluffy.

Crispy food fresh from the air fryer

Evenness — 8.8

Both zones browned within a shade of each other. A halfway shake was still worth doing for tightly packed baskets.

Ease of use & cleanup — 8.5

The baskets and plates are nonstick and rinse clean. The panel is plain to read and Smart Finish syncs the two zones so nothing sits cold.

Noise — 7.7

The fan is noticeable at full tilt but settles into a steady hum once it reaches temperature.

Design & build

The build feels solid for its size, with a matte black shell and two drawers that slide firmly. The probe stores neatly and the whole thing wipes down in seconds.

Who it’s for

✓ Buy it if…
  • You cook for three or more people most nights
  • You want mains and sides ready at the same moment
✗ Look elsewhere if…
  • Your counter is short on space
  • You mostly reheat for one

Our verdict

For batch cooking this is the one to beat. The two large zones and Smart Finish turn a full meal into a single set-and-forget job, and the probe means roast chicken lands right first time.

You pay for the size in both price and footprint. If you rarely cook for a crowd, a single-basket Ninja will save money and space while doing the core job just as well.

How it compares

Against the 8-quart DZ201 you get more room and the probe. Against a single basket like the AF181 you gain a whole second zone, at the cost of a much bigger machine.

Frequently asked

Can it cook one large batch across both baskets?

No. Each basket works on its own, so the most in one zone is five quarts.

What does the thermometer do?

It reads the internal temperature of meat and stops cooking when it hits your target.

Every oven runs the same five stages: preheat timing, a frozen chip crispiness run, a full tray evenness test, a full load cook, then noise, energy and cleanup. Scores carry the same weighting on every model, so commission never moves a ranking.

The Smart Finish trick means the chips and the chicken are both hot at once. No more juggling.

Feeds my family of four without running two rounds. Cleanup is quick since the plates are nonstick.

Brilliant results but it is big. I had to rearrange my worktop to fit it.

Cooked salmon and roast potatoes at the same time and both were spot on. The probe is the feature I did not know I needed.
