Air fryer jalapeño poppers

Jalapeno poppers

Creamy, cheesy centres and a crunchy top, without the filling escaping.

Poppers leak when the filling is overpacked or the halves are stood at an angle. Fill them level and keep them upright and they behave.

  • 10 jalapeños, halved and deseeded
  • 200g cream cheese
  • 60g grated cheddar
  • 40g panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Method

  1. Prep. Halve the chillies and scrape out the seeds and membrane.
  2. Fill. Mix the cheeses and fill each half level, not domed.
  3. Top. Mix the panko with the melted butter and press onto each.
  4. Air fry. Cook upright at 370°F for 10 minutes until golden.
Test-kitchen tip

Wear gloves when deseeding, and keep them level in the basket. Overfilled poppers erupt.

★★★★★Better than the oven

Faster and crispier. Not sure why I would go back.
