Air fryer meatballs

Air fryer meatballs

Browned outside, tender inside, and no pan of spitting oil to stand over.

Meatballs love the air fryer because hot air hits every side at once, so you get an all-over crust without turning them one by one. Keep the mix loose, and do not pack them tight.

Ingredients

Serves 4 · tap to check off

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 40g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp dried oregano, salt and pepper

Method

  1. Mix. Combine everything with a light hand. Overworking the mince makes the meatballs bouncy.
  2. Roll. Shape into 16 balls, roughly a heaped tablespoon each.
  3. Air fry. Cook at 390°F for 12 minutes, shaking once, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Serve. Toss straight into warm sauce, or serve with pasta.
Test-kitchen tip

Grate the onion rather than chopping it. The moisture keeps the meatballs tender without making the mix wet.
