Air fryer bacon

Air fryer bacon

Evenly crisp rashers with no spitting pan and no bacon-scented kitchen for two days.

Bacon renders a lot of fat, which is what causes air fryer smoke. A spoonful of water in the drawer stops the drippings hitting the hot element and burning.

Ingredients

Serves 4 · tap to check off

  • 8 rashers streaky bacon
  • 1 tbsp water, for the drawer

Method

  1. Prep. Add the water to the drawer under the crisper plate to catch the fat.
  2. Lay out. Arrange the rashers in a single layer, slightly overlapping is fine as they shrink.
  3. Air fry. Cook at 390°F for 9 minutes, turning once, until as crisp as you like it.
  4. Drain. Drain on paper towel for a minute before serving.
Test-kitchen tip

The splash of water in the drawer is the anti-smoke trick. Without it, rendering bacon fat hits the element and burns.
