Air fryer pizza

Pizza

A crisp, blistered base in eight minutes, closer to a pizza oven than your actual oven.

Domestic ovens cannot get hot enough for a proper base. An air fryer is small, so it holds fierce heat right against the dough, which is exactly what a crisp bottom needs.

Ingredients

Serves 2 · tap to check off

  • 1 pizza base, small enough to fit your basket
  • 3 tbsp passata
  • 1 ball mozzarella, torn
  • Basil, olive oil and salt
  • Toppings of your choice

Method

  1. Pre-crisp. Air fry the naked base at 400°F for 2 minutes so the bottom sets.
  2. Top. Spread the passata thinly, then add mozzarella and toppings. Do not overload it.
  3. Air fry. Cook at 400°F for 6 minutes until the cheese blisters.
  4. Finish. Basil and a drizzle of oil out of the basket.
Test-kitchen tip

Pre-crisping the bare base for 2 minutes is the whole trick. It stops the sauce soaking in and going soggy.
